| Metallurgy Lab Technician Second Shift |

| IMR has an immediate need for an experienced Metallurgy Lab Technician on our second shift. This full time position performs metallurgy laboratory duties in accordance with proper lab procedures. Activities include: cutting and preparation of samples, mounting prepared samples in metallurgical mounts, properly orienting, labeling and polishing samples as directed, and conducting specific metallurgical examinations and tests as directed. |

Specific Duties:

Cut, mount and polish samples. Use appropriate cutting devices in laboratory including large cut-off saws, band saws and sectioning saws. Label and maintain samples from receipt of job through archiving.

Conduct various metallurgical tests as directed. This includes microhardness testing, microstructural examination, macro-etching examination, coating/plating evaluation, grain size evaluation, inclusion rating, carbide rating, case depth evaluation, plating thickness measurement, and other tests as directed and trained.

Maintain and operate testing equipment used to conduct sample preparation and testing. This includes use of optical microscopes, photographic equipment, microhardness testers, sample preparation equipment, and other equipment within the laboratory.

Position Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a trade school program related to metallurgical science or related field or an associate’s degree in a related field is desired.

Three (3) years experience in a laboratory or related environment.

Proficiency with or demonstrated ability in various metallurgical procedures and test methods.

Proficiency in use of a broad range of metallurgy devices, tools, and testing.

Ability to communicate with fellow employees and internal and external customers.
-
Ability to work well under shifting deadlines and priority.

Our second shift works a biweekly, 9-day, 80 hour work schedule with hours as follows: Week 1: 44 hours Monday – Thursday 3:30 – 1:00 am, Friday 3:30 - midnight Week 2: 36 hours Monday -Thursday 3:30 – 1:00 am |
