METALLURGIST/METALLURGICAL ENGINEER

IMR Test Labs in Ithaca is recruiting for an experienced Metallurgist. This position independently performs high quality metallurgical evaluations and failure analyses to meet customer expectations in a timely and cost effective manner. IMR Metallurgists must have the ability to handle concurrent management of multiple failure analysis and metallurgy projects for diverse industrial clients. This is a fast-paced, hands-on position where the metallurgist is expected to plan analytical investigations, manage and perform materials testing, and create professional technical reports. Metallurgists at IMR interface with clients and provide consultation regarding a wide variety of materials and processing topics, including materials selection, heat treatment, mechanical testing, corrosion, welding, coatings and nonmetallic engineering materials. Infrequent on-site consultation and inspection may also be required. Interested candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering, materials science or equivalent. Excellent English-language oral and written communication skills are required. Experience with customer service, quality assurance programs, domestic and international test standards and materials laboratory equipment operation (e.g. metallographic microscopes, scanning electron microscopes, mechanical testing, etc.) is a plus.

OUTSIDE SALES MANAGER

MR Test Labs is currently seeking a proven sales leader with 4+ years’ experience in technical or service-related sales to identify potential clients, present IMR’s services as solutions to testing needs and drive new opportunities to sales.
Using your proven ability to identify new customers and turn prospects into sales, you will research and develop contacts in all industries; cultivate relationships with existing customers; regularly visit new customers and communicate sales activity to department directors through written reports. You’ll establish key metrics to demonstrate market penetration and sales progress; participate in business plan development; develop technical knowledge through regular visits to IMR sites and provide training and expertise to IMR’s sales staff.
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing or Business or equivalent experience along with strong communication and PC skills including advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel & Access. A background in sales, marketing, business, technical, scientific or related industrial experience is a must.

LAB TECHNICIANS - FIRST & SECOND SHIFTS

We are currently seeking experienced lab technicians for our metallurgy and chemistry departments on both our first and second shifts.
IMR lab technicians perform sample preparations, conduct testing and perform analysis for our clients according to internal, industry or customer specifications and standards. They perform tests on-time according to stringent quality and safety guidelines.
Chemical sample prep includes acid digestion of metal samples and dilutions. Analytical chemistry instrumentation may include O/N, H, C/S, particle size analyzers and OES. Gravimetric and volumetric tests may also be performed.
Metallurgical sample prep will include cutting, mounting and polishing using various saws and other equipment. Metallurgical testing & evaluation includes microhardness, microstructural, macro-etching, coating/plating, grain size, case depth and other tests as directed.
Candidates will have: A High School diploma (although an associates degree or coursework in chemistry, metallurgy or related science is strongly preferred); 1 – 3 years in a lab or related environment where dexterity and mathematical ability has been demonstrated; the ability to work independently and as part of a team; demonstrated proficiency with various instrumentation, equipment and computer technology; the ability to learn new skills, and a highly motivated work ethic.
Our second shift operates on a 9 day, 80 hour biweekly work schedule. Hours are: Week 1: Monday – Thursday 3:30 pm – 1 am, Friday 3:30 – midnight. Week 2: Monday – Thursday 3:30 pm – 1 am.

PROGRAMMER

IMR Test Labs in Ithaca is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Programmer. Our full time programmer provides support for enhancements to MATware, IMR’s proprietary Lab Management Information System (LIMS); serves as the initial contact for all MATware requests, and coordinates data acquisition projects throughout the lab in an effort to reduce costs and improve quality. This position also: troubleshoots problems; writes clear and well documented software; develops graphical user interfaces; evaluates and recommends software development tools and reference materials; maintains SQL databases; supports IT function including basic network and PC support; and maintains close relationships with the Windows Developer community to ensure that new releases and applications are studied and implemented as appropriate.
Qualified candidates will have: BS in computer science or related field or equivalent experience with demonstrated proficiencies in required competencies; 5 years work experience in programming, and an additional 2 years or concurrent experience in network administration; and proficiency in: VB.net, VBA or VB; MS Access and MS SQL Server. Ability to work independently according to strict deadlines and strong communication and teamwork skills are also critical.

TECHNICAL REPORT SPECIALIST

IMR Ithaca is currently seeking candidates with top notch word processing skills and stellar customer service abilities who excel at attention to detail for a role on our Administrative Support Staff. IMR’s Technical Report Specialists generate and deliver accurate, timely technical customer reports after our specialists, scientists and engineers complete testing for our customers. As key contributors on our team, Technical Report Specialists interface with our internal staff to collect information and data required to prepare IMR’s end product – our technical reports. In addition, Technical Report Specialists log, store and dispose of samples according to IMR guidelines, maintain our proprietary lab management system to ensure complete and accurate job track and specification information, and serve as backup for front office and other administrative functions.,
