Chemical Technician

Under minimal supervision, the Chemical Technician is responsible for sample preparation, operation of instrumentation, keeping work areas clean and performing a variety of analytical tests. Additionally, the Chemical Technician will be aid in the development of methods and assist supervisors and managers with administrative and quality items.

Location: Lansing, NY

Your Challenge:

  • Perform mechanical and chemical sample preparations. Mechanical sample prep will include cutting, drilling and grinding of metal samples. Chemical sample prep will include mainly acid digestions of metal samples and dilutions.
  • Review and investigate samples using a variety of analytical instrumentation. Analytical instrumentation may include but are not limited to an oxygen/nitrogen analyzer, hydrogen analyzer, carbon/sulfur determinator, optical emission spectrometer (OES) and ICP, and particle size analyzer.
  • Perform typical gravimetric and volumetric tests. These tests include but are not limited to coating weights, densities, moisture content, ash content, sieve analysis, and titrations.
  • Maintain work area conditions and appearance at expected IMR standards. Work in a safe manner.
  • Aid in the development of methods and troubleshooting

Your Expertise:

  • 2-5 years' experience in a similar role
  • High School diploma or equivalent; 2 year associates degree preferred
  • Availability to work evenings (3:00pm-12:00am) is a plus

Sr. CNC Machinist - Lansing, NY

Job Description

Under minimal supervision, performs moderately complex assignment planning, layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments for various types of manual, numerically controlled and computerized machine shop equipment. Under minimal supervision, works from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions. May communicate directly with engineers to understand the purpose of a part assembly. Checks and inspects machining operations against specified tolerances. May identify and repair minor machine malfunctions.

Location: Ithaca, NY

Your Challenge:

  • Manufacture and inspects detailed parts and tools from blueprints, sketches, drawings and verbal instructions using a variety of machining tools and equipment (mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other machining equipment) and using mathematical and geometrical calculations.
  • Determine how to set up machines based on instructions received.
  • Perform minor repairs of equipment.
  • Keep work area clean and free from safety hazards. Maintain acceptable quality and efficiency level.
  • Prove out CNC programs when required.
  • Use of CAD/CAM system desirable (i.e. Solidworks, Mastercam, Fusion, etc.).

Your Expertise:

  • 4 + years of experience working on CNC lathes and VMC Mills.
  • Grinding, Water jet and EDM experience is a strong asset.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Technical or trade school preferred.
  • Must be able to determine machine tool and CNC program errors.
  • Capable of all inspection techniques.
